So I decided to restart watching the series on Disney+, and man is it so much fun.
Bring back Don Karnage, the Sky Pirates, hell even bring back Shere Khan and find out what he’s up to.Īll of this made me interested in revisiting the original somhow. And with a unique relationship to Della Duck (I dont think there’s romance implied but they banter pretty well) and the awesome Launchpad McQuack, Disney could have a awesome Disney Pilots series. Especially given that he’s in a spot similar to Baloo by the episode’s end. I honestly would love to see Kit Cloudkicker get his own show thats like a sequel to the original Talespin.

He’s just a guy who knows how to handle some unique situations which makes said situations - cloud surfing!!! - all the more exciting to watch. I like that he doesnt take himself too seriously.
In ways he’s like a more serious Launchpad, has charisma and a relaxed coolness, not unlike say Brendan Fraiser in The Mummy.
But I feel Kit as he was portrayed in Ducktales is a worthy successor. Id always and still associate Talespin with Baloo the ace pilot. It really was truly charming and having grown up Kit be a lot like Baloo in the original show - in debt but liking what he’s good at, getting bailed out by a Cunningham - made for reigniting my interest in Talespin. It was a lot of fun action in showing the uniqueness of Disney’s take on stylized aviation. So, “The Lost Cargo of Kit Cloudkicker” was in ways a refresher. I knew Baloo & other Jungle Book characters were now anthropomorphic and Baloo was a pilot. Now Id pretty much forgotten the plot of Talespin. While I dont have as many nostalgic memories of the original I loved the new show as it managed to be both solid in storytelling, nostalgia, & loving Disney charm. Last year I watched the new Ducktales show more thoroughly. But Talespin stayed as vague memories of said childhood thag I hadnt thought much about in the following two decades (well going on three with it being 2021 at the time of writing O_o). It and other Disney Afternoon shows (plus other 90s animated shows like Pokemon, animation aired on Fox, Cartoon Network, & Nickelodeon) were staples of my early childhood. As a result, Louie has since either been omitted from various media that might have included him, or else the character has been depicted drastically different from the original incarnation of the character. The last time I watched Talespin before today was probably back when it last aired on Toon Disney. Louie's appearance in TaleSpin proved upsetting to the family of Louis Prima, who voiced Louie's counterpart in The Jungle Book, due to Jim Cummings' approximation of Prima's voice. His character is based off of Desi Arnez's Ricky Ricardo on the hit situational comedy I Love Lucy. His hold on the island is somewhat tenuous, though through his own ingenuity and the aid of his friends he's managed to avoid losing it (in "Louie's Last Stand").Ĭlick here to view this page's gallery. He appears to be one of Baloo's best friends but sometimes can be competitive with him when it comes to women, treasure-hunting and, on occasion, in business matters.
